Review of UCC written by a patient
5th September 2017

The Reception was very courteous and welcoming. The Tri-age was quick and functional and from there after a short while I went through to be seen by a member of the nursing team in a dark blue outfit. From there my experience sank to the depths. There was no empathy shown; no care or compassion - quite frankly no interest. I presented with an injury to my right second toe. I'd experienced constant pain for six days - the previous day whilst attending for MLD treatment; the therapist commented on the swelling and colour of the affected toe and advised me to have it checked. Given the increased risks associated with Lymphoedema (secondary) I expected more interest but it was dismissed as merely, 'probably gout'.No questions were asked if there was a history of gout and no blood tests to confirm the diagnosis - just dismissed. I'm not medically trained but I don't know of any cases if discolouration and swelling with gout and pain spreading the length of the foot. That said I am legally trained and if a complication arises from this I will be taking action for clinical negligence.

The service and facilities were fantastic. I was seen straight away and had the necessary treatment. The only improvement I would suggest, which is quite an important one regarding data protection, is having confidential information relayed back and to to the receptionist, in clear ear-shot of everyone in the waiting area. The is due to the way the facilities have been set out, rather than a staff issue - the staff were brilliant. Names, addresses and details of next of kin need to be kept confidential.

Review of Endoscopy Unit Halton written by a patient
4th August 2017

Today, THURSDAY 3 AUGUST 2017 I attended the Endoscopy Unit at Halton. After a short wait I was called to change into a theatre gown then taken into the theatre where I met Mr Ravichand who explained about the procedure. The attendant nurses were very reassuring and supportive throughout. The procedure was completed in about 2 minutes and re-run while I watched on the screen. All of my questions were answered promptly and Mr Ravichand wrote out a prescription which, after dressing, I took down to the Pharmacy while accompanied by one of the nurses. After a rather long 30minute wait, due to a shortage of some of the tablets, I left the hospital after being on site for about 2hrs. Car parking facilities were excellent as there appeared to be a regular flow of vehicles in and out. All in all, a stress-free and pain -free experience. Thank you to all of the staff that I came into contact with.

Review of Physiotherapy Halton written by a patient
10th July 2017

CATS was recommended to me by GP. Got appointment week or so later. Examined on 17/5/17 and was very pleased with this and the information that I was given regarding my problem by the CATS lady, and said as much on the form she gave me afterwards. She said that she was forwarding me for physio . HOWEVER, that's the last I've heard since. It's no use having this new CATS thing if nobody follows it up. Is it just one of those Nation Health box ticking exercises, just to say that the patient has been seen? In

Me and my mother came to the hospitals out of hours where we had to wait for over 2 hours to be seen after triage. My mum was in a great amount of pain so asked for pain relief. After waiting over an hour for my mum to be given pain relief and us both asking for the medication on 2 separate occasions to be given pain relief she was called in to be seen still not being given any sort of pain relief.

Review of Ward Day Case Unit Halton written by a patient
15th June 2017

I felt cared for from the moment I arrived in in the hospital. Porters asked if i needed help finding the ward and on arrival in the ward the receptionist acknowledged me straight away. I had only just sat down in the waiting area when another member of staff showed me to the area of the ward where I had my bed and introduced me to the nurse responsible for my care. She explained where the toilets were and what would be happening before I went for my operation. A student nurse (Chris) helped to care for me and he was also very polite and caring, he explained what he needed to do and on return from my operation he was checking regularly that I was recovering properly. The hospital environment seems very relaxed and organised from start to finish. A big thank you to everyone!

I found the electronic sign slightly confusing. The receptionist was very helpful, pleasant and put me at ease. The waiting area was quite pleasant and clean, t.v. Good idea, perhaps quiet music could also be an option. On this occasion I was seen within an hour and was very pleased I didn't have to wait any longer.

Review of Orthodontics Halton written by a family member
10th May 2017

Everyone that we have met within the Orthodontics Department has been amazing and made the journey so far an absolute breeze. From the ladies on reception, the Dental Assistants, to Mr Edwards, Ravi and the superstar of the team (Sue), I can't praise them highly enough for their guidance and support in order to prepare my son for getting his braces fitted, as they have been so focussed, caring yet firm where needed, welcoming and truly make you feel like you are a valued patient. Keep up the great work guys, as my one hope that the rest of his journey is as great an experience for my son and I as the first stage was, which is all down to your fantastic team!
